ABOUT CODY KAREY
"A Star Is Born!" - David Foster
Cody Karey is a professional vocalist who was, well, born to sing! He was singing before he even learned to talk. By six, he was performing country songs before audiences in and around his rural small town Fort St. James, in Northern BC, in a black hat, black shirt with silver collar tips, jeans, belt buckle and cowboy boots he bought with $25 he received as a gift from his grandmother, citing Alan Jackson as his favorite to a local journalist. By the time he was a teenager, Cody was taking the stage in big cities and had already appeared on television. It was around this time he discovered a love for the music of Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli. “I was pretty much certain that was the kind of music I wanted to do.”
To that end, in 2006, Cody entered a David Foster talent competition, where he reached the finals and first began the eight-year journey that ended up with the Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/record exec signing him to Verve Records. During his 8 year development period with Foster, Cody made countless on-stage appearances on some of the world's biggest stages including Madison Square Garden in New York. These appearances allowed Cody to hone his craft by sharing the stage with a long list of world-class artists such as Michael Buble, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Cher, Donny Osmond, Paul Anka, Ruben Studdard, Katharine McPhee, Delta Goodrem, Peter Cetera, Phillip Bailey, Jackie Evancho and Charice to name a few. Cody Karey’s self-titled debut album emerged soon after, containing a number of love songs and ballads that truly showcase the power of Karey’s voice, notably his single “You Are The Song”.
Shortly after his debut release, Cody discovered another artistic passion. In January 2015, it was announced by CTV Cody would be featured on Canada’s most-watched reality TV series, "MasterChef Canada”, as a season 2 finalist. Of his cooking, Karey says he draws inspiration for both his music and culinary creations from the same influence; love and romance. "I've always dreamed of seeing my name up in lights as a successful restaurateur and as a musician." Cody was ultimately eliminated from the competition at 4th place, however was honoured by Hello!Canada in their “50 most beautiful” and “25 most eligible bachelors” that year.
Since his first release in 2012, Cody has worked on a number of recordings, including his 2020 Christmas release “My Kind of Christmas” (produced by long-time friend Trevor Hoffmann) and the 2018 single “Heaven”. In addition to recording solo titles, Cody has also developed and performed with vocal group projects such as “Citizen West”, which he co-founded with the groups other members, and “Bailamos!”, a John William Dexter Latin Crossover project. Both as a solo artist and in his group projects, Cody now focuses on bringing top-level live entertainment to both private events and public concerts all over the world.
